The Museum of Anthropology and History opened its doors on January 25, 1994, in San Pedro Sula, Cortés, with the purpose of preserving and disseminating the cultural heritage of Honduras.
This private regional museum highlights the cultural development achieved by the different ethnic groups that inhabited the Sula Valley over time. It also seeks to highlight the impact of these ancient cultures on daily life, preserving valuable historical artifacts.
Conceived by the Center for Pre-Columbian and Historical Studies of Honduras, a nonprofit organization, the museum was made possible thanks to the support of various individuals, institutions, and businesses.
It is located in a historic building constructed in 1942 by architect Héctor Bustillo Oliva, which previously housed the Francisco Morazán School. The museum has now been remodeled and renovated to offer an enriching experience to its visitors.
